Help us awaken, empower and inspire believers to live in vibrant health - body, soul & spirit - so they can live to shine for Christ!
I want to connect those in Northwest Arkansas that are promoting Biblical wellness... Do you want to help bring believers together, promote Biblical wellness and provide space to encourage and empower them thru local and online classes and gatherings? Then I'd love for you to join me!
I also want us to band together as Wellness professionals and be "iron sharpening iron" for each other through our Team Shine mastermind group.
Reach out and let's talk! Stephanie
If I've peaked your curiosity, then let me give you the back story and bigger picture...
After watching my dad battle cancer and the weaknesses in the conventional medical system, I became an ND and Master Herbalist in 2011. With five kids I knew that if nothing else it would be a benefit to my own family. But I had the idea of opening my own wellness center in the back of my mind one day. Today, I don't know if I will ever open a wellness center. God has just never opened the doors for that. But I know that He has given me BIG dreams, knowledge and talents that need to be used for His glory! I do believe He gave me the dreams and visions for the wellness center so I have been waiting on His timing.
Enter March 2020 If there has been a positive about a global pandemic...it's that it's required us to rethink how we do things in every arena of life. It has also burned off the chaff and helped us see what's important and what God wants from us. Personally, I'm feeling an urgency to point people to Jesus with the tools He's given me...and I do think that can be done with fitness & wellness!
I think I've wasted too much time looking for ways to make money in the wellness industry and I'm ready to just serve and point people to Jesus! With that, I think He's molding the dreams and visions He has given me...in a very different way!
If I had to type a resume it would be a weird collection of random jobs over the years...but I can see a few coming back into play... I have written a business plan and secured a business loan, served on a nonprofit board and written all the papers in creating that nonprofit, and helped organize some big events....all that to say that I am feeling called to use those organizational skills in developing a new ministry in NWA.
A few years ago, I was planning for the Shine Wellness Center, but I believe it's not about what one person can do and that vision has grown into seeing a Biblical wellness community with no walls. I'm calling it the "Live to Shine Community." A community with many practitioners that want to see vibrant healthy believers that are able to do the good works God has called them to do. Matthew 5:16 says we are to let our light shine for His glory! Seeing people living in vibrant health and living their life on purpose shining for God in their passions...seems like a much better vision than just me opening a wellness center.
Random thoughts & brainstorming ideas I have...
The Vision is a vibrant community that interacts online and in local gatherings; that offers a smorgasbord of wellness offerings...but with the same goal...to see them healthy so they can live to shine
Team Shine: this would be a mastermind group for the practitioners, meeting every 4-6 weeks - I'm calling us, Shine Mentors; mentors because I want us to be committed to "teaching people to fish" that is to empower them to take control of their body/temple
Shine Mentors - have free offerings to our members each month; ok to also promote other paid offerings - so that we have benefit to the members at large, but benefit to you because you can also promote your paid services as well
Live to Shine onboarding: 7 days of the basics...introducing them to the community, how it works, basic principles of health and giving them a taste of the Operation Shine; maybe this is a text each day?
basic health principles I have as 5 pillars: connect to the Light source daily, nourish your body, move your body, adjust your focus, get support (community aspect); if the community at large promotes the basics, then as practitioners we can help them one-on-one upgrade and fine tune as needed and with our different niches/specialties
Operation Shine: this is a 6 week program that offers explains the basics a little more in depth; but I'm definitely open to getting some help writing this! in the future this can offer be offered zoom and/or local class each week; thinking it might be more of a workbook that goes with the book, "Body, Mind & Health: Discovering God's Solutions for Total Health" (unless we want to completely write our own!); available as a free resource for all our members...it can be the springboard for other paid services
Ideas of offerings: fitness classes, bible studies, wellness how-to/DIY, faith & fellowship nights, community fitness, like sponsoring a 5K, maybe an area hiking group or walking groups
Host wellness retreats - rent a VRBO near Beaver Lake or maybe near another close city like Branson; would support the basics of biblical wellness with different things for body, soul, spirit; so thinking self care/pampering, movement (hike, yoga, fitness), pampering-skin care, raindrops, emotional ? (aroma freedom, splankna, etc?), good food, praise & prayer time
Host wellness events and workshops that bring together all our unique gifts and talents (like a Super Saturday wellness event with workshops all day) or our own "First Friday" type thing
Structure & biz details
currently Live to Shine is a private member association; the PMA has already been created; because it's just a handful of people, it is currently operating like an unincorporated nonprofit; the non-profit status would be easy to file based on the documents already created, but just need to form a Board and vote on how we want to proceed
PMA removes the community from the public, which means services and classes offered are for members only (links for further info on what & why of a PMA are below)
you would join the PMA as a member and can offer classes, one-on-one coaching, etc for a fee to other members as you choose
you would still maintain your own business structure (so income is still reported thru your LLC or Sole Prop. etc) for your paid classes/offerings; they would pay you directly, the PMA wouldn't be taking money for you
thinking that you would offer at least one class or gathering each month for no charge (online or in-person) this is a perk for people to join the community (but not offered to the general public)
I am not sure if we should limit the number of practitioners/mentors. I definitely want the mentors to be team-players that are truly behind the mission & vision and will help support and encourage membership and participation; only mentors would be board members of the nonprofit
an online platform/app is already set-up and can facilitate the community as well as online courses (or a blend of live & online); this would be the main overhead for the group, down the road it can be converted to our own branded app (just cost quite a bit$$$)
also thinking we could incorporate other businesses that complement the mission, as Shine Ambassadors, maybe things like gyms, coffee shops, etc...but we'd need to think this thru and the specifics, but if we are a nonprofit, they could donate as a tax write off and this could help raise funds to run the group
fees to run the online portion of the group would be the biggest expense; I am not sure if we have each practitioner pay an annual fee to participate to cover these costs; charge members an annual fee or maybe a combo would be the best option...to keep fees low for everyone
Modeling after: I know it may not seem to mesh, but here's a few places that I've gotten inspiration from....although they are mostly physical locations, I think we can offer part of what they offer all over NWA using the power of a well connected network https://wellness-revival.org/ this one is using fitness and movement, althought they did write a great 7 week wellness study as well
www.lotusbewell.com/ this one offers many modalities, I think many of us have some of this, we just need to showcase who is offering what services
cometothewellfoundation.com this one was a physical coffee shop & wellness center but because of covid had to shut down, but if you can look thru their old posts on fb you can see what they used to offer; their mission is similar to what I envision, "Come To The Well, a Board operated 501c3 ministry, is a place to worship Jesus through regularly scheduled on-going services and activities. We offer faith building studies, inspirational worship & praise, prayer room, Christ-centered fitness & yoga classes, workshops, retreat adventures, and mission partner projects. We are a place for community to come together and worship the Lord, filling the mind, body and spirit with a new-found hope"
